The yin and yang
The last few weeks have been pretty full, as you might have guessed by the fact that this email is coming out later in the week than usual. Thank you for your patience with me!
The past couple of weeks have included some real highs and lows. I have interviewed two amazing wahine (women) for the podcast, and I did my first online international Keynote on Thursday.
Last week I attended a memorial of a colleague and friend, so the week has been full of emotions and memories. The memorial was a beautiful celebration of an amazing, quirky man.
On Wednesday evening I interviewed my wonderful coach Christine Corcoran for the new series On her own terms on the Doing it Messy Podcast. Christine is a the exact example of someone who pushes against expectations, lives by her values, and refuses to dim her sparkle. The episode will be out in a few weeks and I can't wait for you to hear it.
Run Your Own Race was a forty five minute keynote for Lunit Internatinal, an amazing organisation using cutting-edge technology to fight cancer. I used a running analogy to talk about why knowing our Why can keep us going, how we can make sure we know what success is for our particular race, the different speeds and needs for different kinds of races, and the importance of running a race on our own terms. We also talked about my favourite concept of balance; holding ourselves accountable to high standards, whilst also giving ourselves grace because we are all human. It was a beautiful session and I've been really touched by the feedback so far.
If you have a group you think could benefit from me talking to them, please do put us in touch. I love being able to share this work with people. You can find out more about my workshops and keynotes on the website, and I'm also happy to design something specifically for an organisation.
Podcast Episodes
I reflected on why doing things everyone else expects of us doesn't work, and why it's important to forge our own path.
In the latest doing it messy episode, I talk about rituals, why we have them, what they can bring to us, and some of my own.
Coming up - Design a Life you Love - save the date! 23 October 1pm-2:30pm
A lot of the people I speak to don't really know where to start when it comes to pushing against expectations and creating a life on their own terms. Because of this, I'm really excited to be bringing my first in person Design a Life you Love workshop to Wellington.
The workshop will be a hands-on in-person 90 minute experience where I will talk you through the VIP mindset and some tools, and you'll have time to map out the life you love in the actual workshop. It's for busy people who know they want something more, but can't put their finger on quite what that is or how to get there yet. Tickets are limited.
What's one thing you're doing in your life right now that is building towards how you want your life to feel?
Until next time, take care, and remember, it's not about perfection, it's about intention.
Warmly,
Ruth
