Trail Blazers
Have you ever thought something had to be done one way, and then something happens that just blows that idea out of the water? I've been thinking a lot about paradigm shifting, blue sky thinking, and pushing back against expectations at the moment, and I have to say, it's exciting.
Next week I will be presenting an online keynote presentation I'm titling Run Your Own Race: Trail Blazers. It's for an international organisation doing some really amazing work in the cancer space. They are pushing the limits of what we thought was possible, pushing against expected norms to find ways to detect cancer early. The Keynote will include a lot of the ideas I've been thinking about recently; about who you look up to and identify with, how to be the first to do something, and how to pace yourself when the race gets tough. I'm so looking forward to the keynote and supporting this organisation's important mahi (work).
If you have a group you think could benefit from me talking to them, please do put us in touch. I love being able to share this work with people. You can find out more about my workshops and keynotes on the website, and I'm also happy to design something specifically for an organisation.
Podcast Episodes
After I spoke on Stephanie Riviera's podcast Joy Found Here (my episode will be out in November), I realised I hadn't told that much of the origin story of how the VIP Mindset came to be. So in last week's episode I changed that, and posted Good Girl Undone: How Burnout, ADHD, and one messy divorce built this podcast.
This week I spoke about my own values and why I think it's important to be driven by them, rather than what the world thinks. I also announced an upcoming series. About once a month I will feature a woman who is pushing back against expectations and creating a life On Her Terms. I can't wait to share these amazing women's stories with you. If you know someone I should interview for this segment, reply to this email and let me know! I'd love to spotlight more incredible women.
Listen to Whose Life is it Anyway here.
For now...
I am back on Aotearoa soil. The magnolia trees are in bloom, the daffodils are out, and apart from a few extremely unpleasant days of horizontal rain (a Wellington classic), the sun has been shining warmly down.
We're having our own versions of paradigm-shifting conversations as a whānau (family) as we consider what the next chapter will look like for us. We're thinking most specifically about where we will live and how to make that work for all of us. It's hard work having these kinds of big discussions, and I have to admit I am not always managing to do it in the way I would hope (ever a work in progress!), so I need to do some more work on regulating myself and remembering who I want to be even in the difficult moments. However, I'm incredibly grateful that we can genuinely grapple with questions about what the future will look like and build something together.
What are you working on right now that's tough or exciting?
